Some of the special programs at IPRC-South
A modern Civil Engineering laboratory worth 700 million Rwandan francs was launched at IPRC South in October 2016.
The new lab is capable of offering services in aggregate testing, cement testing, Bitumen testing (on construction sites), concrete testing, highway testing, soil classification, geo-technics and other Engineering surveying works.
The lab was donated by PAFP, a Belgian common TVET support programme that has been operating in Rwanda since 2010.
Training in Irrigation & Agricultural mechanization
The Government of Rwanda through Workforce development Authority has embarked on modernizing agriculture by promoting skills through Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centers (IPRCs).
It is in this framework that the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) and the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) launched new training programs in Agricultural Mechanization and Irrigation Technology at IPRC-South.
These Agriculture training programs being offered at IPRC-South located in Huye district, and Gishari Integrated Polytechnic (GIP) based in Rwamagana district, aim at equipping Rwandan farmers with relevant competitive skills and modern agricultural practices in general.
MINAGRI deployed some of its equipment to these schools to offer adequate technical training in both Agri-Mechanization and Irrigation technology. This was through an MoU signed between WDA and the Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB).
More than 104 trainees from different cooperatives have been undergoing training in Agricultural Irrigation and Mechanization at IPRC-South and Gishari Integrated Polytechnic since October 14,2015.
Training in Hydraform block making
IPRC-South conducts on-site trainings in block production in collaboration with Hydraform Company from South Africa. The training allows producing interlocking blocks using Hydraform machines, introduced to allow faster construction and making building simple and efficient.
