Minister lauded the TVET graduates’ performance on the labour market

Minister of education in charge of Technical Vocational and Education Training (TVET) Schools, Olivier Rwamukwaya appreciated the level of TVET graduates performance on the labour market.

During his two days visit in different manufacturing companies, including Inyange Industry, the agro-processing plant located in Masaka sector in Gasaabo district, and Manumetal Limited among others, minister applauded the management observations towards the performance of the TVET graduates on operating some machinery.

“It was interesting to meet some IPRC Kigali graduates performing maintenance work of key machines at Inyange industries Ltd today, and to hear the management appreciating the level of skills graduates from both University Rwanda and Rwanda Polytechnic are given,” said Rwamukwaya.

The aim off the visit was partly meant to assess the level of the labour market satisfaction towards the performance of the TVET alumnae
According to the officials, besides to that the visit was intended to evaluate the current and projected skills gaps, as well as the way of fostering the cooperation of the labour market with the TVET sector.
According to the minister, the visit was also looking for the way of easing the industrial attachment program for the TVET students as the way of equipping students with the labour market needed skills.

Todate, the employers are involved in the curriculum development and offer these students industrials based training.

“We count on a closer partnership in curriculum development and introduction of new programs such as mechatronics and stainless steel welding technology,” said Rwamukwaya.

 Minister thanked the MANUMETAL Ldt’s management for facilitating internship to the students from different TVET schools.

Students spend 50 per cent of their times at school and 50 per cent at workplace which has helped them to have the right skills needed at workplaces and students easily get linked with their future employers.
