UR Gives Away its Redundant Infrastructure to WDA

Professor Philip Cotton, Vice Chancellor of UR and Mr. Jerome Gasana, Director General of WDA signed a memorandum of understanding on partial use of some UR campuses.

The University of Rwanda and Workforce Development Authority signed a memorandum of understanding on partial use of some of its redundant campuses.

Based on the MOU Byumba, Kibungo, Nyamishaba and Kavumu and Nyagatare facilities are to be used to expand Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Rwanda.

According to Workforce Development Authority WDA officials Nyundo School of music has already relocated to Muhanga district for favorable environment.

The music school that has been operating in Ecole d’Art de Nyundo in Rubavu District this year’s academic year will moved to the former Kavumu College of education starting with the academic year 2018. The music school was launched in 2014 and the first intake graduated in March last year.

With Gicumbi campus WDA plans to convert it into a sports academy while Nyagatare campus facility will be used for agricultural mechanization. The Agricultural engineering department will focus on studies related agricultural production and processing.
