Wadhwani Foundation and Rwanda Polytechnic partners with Skills Development and Job Creation
This 21st May 2018 Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) signs a Memorandum of understanding with Wadhwani operating Foundation (WOF) to support skills development and job creation in Rwanda.
The objectives of that memorandum are; To provide program support through e-Content, capability development of faculty to enable superior placement outcomes, as measured by increased placements and higher wages and to mainstream skills development education on campus through curriculum activities and programs.
The representative of WOF in East Africa said that this partnership will allow students from Rwanda polytechnic and associate colleges to get soft skills (communications, attitude, behavior, interview right) coupled with technical skills acquired from colleges which will enable them to be more relevant to the labor market.
There will be an international trainer who will come to Rwanda to carry training of trainers(ToT) and the skills acquired will be replicated to strengthen the program using technology.
Dr James Gashumba, the Vice chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic said that they have a high expectation to learn from WOF especially on how to usher the students into the world of work after acquiring certificates.
Wadhwani Operating Foundation together with Wadhwani charitable foundation’s primary mission is to accelerate economic development in emerging economies through large-scale job creation presently in Asia, Africa and Latin America operating in collaboration with governments, corporates, mentors, investors and educational institutes. While both the Foundations are focused on the same goal and mission, the Wadhwani Charitable Foundation focuses on grant making, while the Wadhwani Operating Foundation focuses on direct programs.
